A few days after the devastating earthquake in Turkey, the Human Aid Initiative team was on the ground in southern Turkey to distribute humanitarian aid to those affected by the disaster.
The Human Aid Initiative team distributed blankets, dry food/basic necessities, hygiene kits, drinking water, and hot meals at several refugee points in the Hassa, Hatay, and Kahramanmaras provinces.
The country manager of the Human Aid Initiative, Nurani Susilo, said, “A huge thank you to all donors for enabling us to assist those affected by the earthquake in Turkey quickly. The scale of the disaster is so great that international aid is needed.”
The earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria in the early hours of February 6, 2023, resulting in at least 50,000 deaths and over one million homes being destroyed.
“After the emergency response period ends, the next focus is to provide temporary housing. Therefore, support is still needed to help residents in southern Turkey rebuild their lives,” said Nurani Susilo.
