Donggala Earthquake

Location : epicenter 10 Km on 27 Km Northeast Donggala, Central
Sulawesi, Indonesia
Time : Friday, 28 September 2018

Earthquake with magnitude 7.7 Richter scale, Tsunami early warning had been activated, but it was declared over. Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency activated Tsunami early warning on 28/9/2018 at 17:07 Local Time and has stated that the tsunami early warning ended on 9/28/2018 at 17:39.

The earthquake potentially trigger tsunamis in coastal areas:
a. Western Donggala with “Standby” status.
b. Northern Donggala with “Alert” status
c. Northern Mamuju with “Alert” status
d. Western Palu with “Alert” status

The earthquake felt in the area around Palu to the north in the area ofDonggala Regency with earthquake intensity VI-VII MMI (strong to very strong). Few areas in Donggala covers Parigi, Kasimbar, Tobolf, Toribulu, Dongkalang, Sabang, and Tinombo has earthquake intensity VI-VII MMI. Aftershocks continue with less magnitude.

Previous Earthquake

An earthquake with magnitude 6 Richter scale centered on land at shallow depths shook the Donggala region, Central Sulawesi with the epicenter 2 km on north of Donggala with the depth 10 km on Friday, 28 September
2018, at 14:00 Local Time.

The source of the earthquake came from the Palu Koro fault. Based on the data from Regional Disaster Management Agency Donggala Regency recorded 1 person passed away, 10 people injured, and dozens of houses were damaged. The victim was hit by a collapsed building. Evacuation is still carried out by officers. Data collection and emergency handling are still carried out.
